BankDhofar, headquatered in Oman, has announced it is to begin issuing cards in branch.
Munich based technology company Giesecke & Devrient’s (G&D) will provide BankDhofar with the required technology to create the cards in-store, allowing customers to collect and begin using their debit cards at the time of the account opening.
In addition, G&D will provide branches with software for personalising customer payment cards.
The system has been tailored to BankDhofar’s requirements and is comprised of a backend server component, installed in the bank’s central data processing centre and a client component that is installed in existing branch systems.
General manager of corporate services at BankDhofar, Abdul Hakeem Al Ojaili, said: "Customers having to come back to the branch for a second time to collect their debit cards will become a thing of the past, and by providing technologically driven value-added services we can increase overall efficiency in our branches."
Support services will also be provided by G&D, which include creating card profiles and processing customer details.
