Nationwide customers were unable to access account information on Tuesday after the building society was struck by IT problems.
The IT issue affected many customers access to online banking, mobile banking and online payments.
Nationwide, the biggest building society in the UK by assets apologised for any inconvenience caused via a website message.
Some customers complained that services were down for most of the day.
In response to the IT failure Nationwide apologised to a number of individual customers via social media site Twitter. NatWest has previously been criticized for their lack of communication when experiencing IT failures.
