State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest bank by assets, profits and deposits, has ordered 600 ATM machines to be deployed across India.

This order is the country’s largest single order for cash deposit ATMs.

SBI has chosen NCR Corporation, India’s largest ATM manufacturer to provide the ATMs.

According to NCR the SelfServ ATMs will reduce long queues and give customers the flexibility to conduct cash deposits beyond banking hours.

Jaivinder Gill, managing director, NCR said of the order: "We are delighted to work with SBI. The strongest drivers of growth for cash deposit ATMs in India are ‘queue reduction’ and ‘customer demand’. As consumers do more through the ATM channel, it becomes imperative for financial institutions to ensure their ATM network is secure and constantly up and running."
