British banking group HSBC has named Tony Cripps, currently CEO of HSBC Australia, as new CEO of its Singapore operation, effective 3 April 2017.
Cripps will succeed Guy Harvey-Samuel, who will retire from the bank after working for more than 38 years.
Cripps, who has over three decades of experience as a banker, will be responsible for leading the bank through its next phase of growth and investment in the island nation.
Previously, he also served as CEO of HSBC in the Philippines and leadership positions in the bank’s global banking and markets operation in London and Hong Kong.
The bank said that Cripps will remain as a non-executive director on the board of HSBC Bank Australia.
HSBC deputy chairman and CEO Peter Wong said: “Given Singapore’s importance to HSBC, I am delighted that Tony will be leading the business in its next phase of growth. His leadership of our Australian and Philippines businesses, and presence on the HSBC Singapore board, means that Tony is well immersed into the region.
