Barclays has rolled out a new talking card reader with ‘super-sized’ features and an improved high-visibility debit card, aimed at assisting older and disabled customers.
The lender said that over five million people experiencing some form of sight and dexterity issues. It believes that the new launches will help older and disabled customers access services more easily and protect them from fraud.

Due to the smaller size of the card reader, some customers, particularly older ones, were facing difficulties in seeing and using the card reader.
The newly developed accessible talking card reader features bigger buttons and screen to meet a broader range of customers’ requirements.
Additionally, the bank has also revamped its existing range of high-visibility debit cards that features high contrast and brightly-coloured design.
And the three-digit security numbers on the reverse of the cards are now being made bigger, after customers told Barclays they were struggling to see them.
