Bank of America has selected the Microsoft Cloud services to support its digital transformation plans and improve operational efficiency.

The US banking group will offer Microsoft Office 365 cloud-based productivity and collaboration tools to some of its staff.

At the same time, the bank will also leverage Microsoft Azure. The tech vendor said that Azure is currently used by over 80% of the world’s largest banks and over 75% of the global systemically important financial institutions.

Bank of America chief technology officer Howard Boville said: “We are aggressively modernising our technology infrastructure to enable current and future growth across all our lines of business.

“Our agreement with Microsoft aligns to our target of delivering 80 percent of our technology workloads on virtual platforms within the next several years, further establishing Bank of America as a digital leader in financial services.”
