BBVA Compass has been given branding rights to Cardtronics’ ATM network in H-E-B grocery stores throughout state of Texas.
The deal means that 300 of the 350 H-E-B stores in the state will have BBVA-branded ATMs and customers will be able to use the machines without paying a surcharge.
"This agreement provides us an opportunity to deliver convenient banking options for H-E-B shoppers and BBVA Compass customers alike," said Gabriel Palafox, director of multichannel development at BBVA Compass.
"Customers want access to their money on their terms. Having bank-branded ATMs in high-traffic locations like H-E-B stores is a great way for us to meet those needs."
The move means that BBVA’s ATM network is now comprised of nearly 1,000 machine – up from just under 700.
The bank’s customers can use any of these ATMs without paying a surcharge.
BBVA has a large presence in Texas, with 350 branches in the state – more than half its total network.
It January, it partnered with Wincor Nixdorf in to pilot a drive-through self-service system in three Houston locations.
The system lets customers consult bank staff via a live video link if they have any questions.
The lender also has a pre-existing relationship with Cardtronics, as it signed with the retail ATM owner to brand 268 machines in Colorado and Texas in 2012.
