China-based Bank of Lanzhou has installed OKI biometric ATMs that use finger vein biometric authentication technology, to combat forgery and identity fraud cases.
After completion of a successful trial, Bank of Lanzhou has installed the biometric finger vein authentication module ATM, which is based on OKI’s ATM-Recycler G7 machines. The finger vein biometric authentication technology was co-developed by mofiria.
The new ATM, which has been designed to minimise the calculations required for authentication, uses the finger vein authentication module to recognise the real customers.
The Chinese lender said that the finger vein authentication featured in these ATMs will improve transaction safety, enabling it to offer various advanced and convenient services, including cash withdrawals without cash cards.
OKI said that the deal is its first for finger vein ATMs in China, but the technology is widely used in Japan.
