State Bank of India (SBI) chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya inaugurated 27 ‘all woman branches’ of the lender falling in the Chandigarh circle.
On her maiden visit to Chandigarh local head office of the bank, which is the controlling office of branches in the four northern states — Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab — apart from union territory Chandigarh, she inaugurated the Personal Banking Branch, Sector -17 as ‘All Woman Branch’.
This is one of the 27 ‘All Woman Branch’ of the SBI, India’s largest lender by revenue, in the circle inaugurated simultaneously by Ms Bhattacharya, an SBI release announced.
Bhattacharya also said the staff of the branch have already provided all the necessary information to her in order to take the bank to a new level.
In November this year, the first all-women bank in India, Bharatiya Mahila Bank, set up retail operations. The bank will open 39 more branches in its first year of operating, following approval from the Indian Finance Ministry.
