Tanzania Postal Bank (TPB) and Airtel Tanzania have entered into an agreement to offer financial services to TPB customers on their mobile devices through Airtel Money.
The agreement will enable TPB customers to withdraw money, transfer money from their bank accounts to their phones, and also send money from their bank accounts to business partners, friends or relatives’ accounts, all by using their mobile phones.
Airtel Tanzania managing director Sunil Colaso said the move seeks to help the company’s subscribers, who are also TPB customers, to easily access banking services.
"We target daily financial needs of Tanzanian consumers….Under this partnership, our customers who also bank with TPB across the country will enjoy easy banking services," Colaso added.
TPB acting CEO Jema Msuya said the agreement with Airtel reinforces the bank’s commitment to extend financial inclusion in the country and also gives them a chance to serve their customers with other services.
"These other services include balance inquiry from your account, mini statement and bank transfers," Msuya said.
