Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), Qatar’s third-largest bank by assets, has launched a new mobile banking app.

QIB’s customers will be able to check their account balances, view credit card transactions, pay their monthly bills and transfer funds to accounts within and outside Qatar.

Dorai Anand, general manager of personal banking group at QIB, said the app was part of the bank’s overall strategy to engage with customers through technology .

Anand said: "We understand that our customers’ time is valuable and we want to help them make the most of it. Now, if there’s an urgent payment or transfer that needs to be made, it doesn’t matter where you are or what time of day it is – the opportunity to do your banking transaction is literally at your fingertips."

QIB are working on a tablet version of the app.
