Brazil’s second largest privately-owned bank by assets, Banco Bradesco, has launched its own version of the branch of tomorrow concept with Bradesco Next in São Paulo, Brazil, offering advanced technology that "facilitates daily customer-bank interactions and optimises time".
With Bradesco Next, the lender aims to create an environment where technology will adapt to the needs of the customers, instead of it "being the other way around"
.
Portugal-headquartered company that develops interactive technology, YDreams, has designed the new branch.
The Bradesco Next branch features realtime content and multi app walls with large screens, offering a wide range of customer needs and requests such as personalised financial advisory services from digital avatars and on-screen consultants, biometric interfaces, and wall- and table-mounted gesture-controlled touchscreens.
Bradesco Next also features a robot guide in the branch as well to "meet and greet" customers. Director of Bradesco’s digital channels, Luca Cavalcanti, says no other lender has launched a branch such as Bradesco Next in Brazil yet.

By GlobalData"This is Bradesco’s first attempt at a high technology-enabled, smart branch. It sets the trend for banks in the market and as far as we know no other banks offer the facilities we are offering through this branch."
With banks across the world attempting to create a ‘branch of tomorrow’, Cavalcanti adds that Bradesco Next differentiates itself based on the quality of technology on offer, as well as the novelty of its look.
"Bradesco Next has no doors. The store is based in a shopping mall that is considered
Brazil’s most contemporary mall and visitors will enjoy a series of experiences for both younger and older generations.
"The bank features real-time content and responds to the movements of whoever comes near, welcoming those who wish to come inside," says Cavalcanti.
Candido Leonelli, executive director of Bradesco, agrees saying the challenge was to create an innovative space that would match the lender’s view of "how the relationship between bank agencies and customers would be conducted in the future" and the lender has successfully managed to do so with Bradesco Next.
Biometric log-in points play a central role in the design of the Bradesco Next branch.
Once touched in, clients can conduct transactions at a range of cardless ATMs, and are provided with personalised information across a range of interfaces in the store.
Bradesco’s new ATM machines in the Bradesco Next branch feature customer interface configuration, touch screen interaction and contactless devices. All transaction services at the ATM are offered in Portuguese, English or Spanish.
The lender has also launched a new ‘Life Cycle’ service to enable Bradesco customers to know their ideal consumption patterns according to their profile, financial situation and personal interests.
"We are excited about the Life Cycle service as customers can find a lot of value from it. The application may predict the ideal time to purchase a home, or set up a personal pension plan," says Cavalcanti.
The Bradesco Next store also features a ‘One to One Customer Service Room’ that provides space for clients to interact with digital avatars or request a video conference with an investment specialist. A "relaxing space" – Mesa Lounge – has also been created, complete with a table that doubles as a touch screen display.
Being a flagship project of YDreams, Bradesco Next "represents" the company’s purpose of transforming the way people interact with the world, says global managing director, Filipe Caldas de Vasconcellos. Cavalcanti says there a re no current plans to invest in another such store.
"We will wait for reactions. It’s still early but we have been getting positive feedback."
