American Express (Amex) has, reportedly, integrated with the
Apple Passbook mobile wallet application with the aim to
enable cardholders to view
transactions on their iPhones and get local business
reviews.
The Apple Passbook, a new feature for the
recently released Apple mobile operating system iOS 6, is designed
to be used as a mobile wallet, where users can store and access the
information they have regarding the likes of credit card purchases,
flight information, coupons, and tickets.

Amex plans to feature real-time information about a customer’s
credit card usage on the Passbook and cardholders will be able
to receive notifications when transactions are made on their
accounts, check balances and get customer service information as
well as real-time redemption of rewards points.
The app is designed to become active at the
appropriate time for the customer automatically, such as the user’s
prepaid ticket appearing when he or she is at a movie
theater.
