Figures released today from digital
consultants comScore highlight a major increase in mobile banking
usage in the EU5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK) in the
past 12 months.
In July, 30m people in the EU5 accessed a bank
account via their smartphone, an increase of 85% compared to a year
ago.

The UK had the largest user base with 7.3m
smartphone owners accessing bank accounts during July, nearly twice
as many as one year ago.
Spain showed an even stronger increase with
113% more m-banking users compared to last year (6m in
July 2012, up from 2.8m).
Comparable figures for France showed an
increase of 70% to almost 4.1m and in Germany a rise of 84%
year-on-year to just over 5.7m.
Italy continues to rank 5th of the
EU5 with m-banking numbers rising by 62% year-on-year to just
over 4m.
