Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has launched a fully integrated
mobile banking app for select smartphones.

The bank said that according to a recent survey by market
research company Ipsos Reid on behalf of RBC, 44% of Canadian’s
were interested in mobile banking.

For 69%, convenience was the top priority to use m-banking
service, but 24% stated that they were concerned about security in
m-banking.

James McGuire, vice president, digital strategy & experience
at RBC, said that RBC was building on its existing m-banking
services, available since 2008.

“Our new integrated apps leverage the capability of the device
to create a simple and easy to use experience,” he said.

 “We are taking convenience and control to a new level by
providing customers with the ability to stay connected with their
finances on their schedule.”

McGuire added that the bank provides customers with the same
safety and security guarantee offered with the bank’s online
banking services.

 “If an unauthorized transaction is conducted through an
RBC mobile banking service, clients will be reimbursed for any
resulting losses to those accounts.”

The RBC mobile app allows clients to access services such
as:

  • View account balances for all personal and business
    accounts;
  • View account details for accounts such as credit lines, credit
    cards; mortgages and loans;
  • Pay bills for all existing online banking payees;
  • View transaction history and payment history;
  • Transfer funds between all RBC accounts;
  • Send internet email money transfers;
  • Send third-party payments;
  • Locate RBC branches and ATMs.
