Barclays is marking the refurbishment of its “state-of-the-art”
branches by inviting the public to enter a dance competition judged
by Brendan Cole, a star of BBC television programme Strictly
Come Dancing.
The competition, open to anyone
including groups and solo acts, will take place across six regions
in the UK where new Barclays branches are being launched.
Successful entrants will perform in
front of a panel of judges and the top five acts from each region
will then be subject to a public vote on
www.barclayslive.co.uk.
Entrants must first upload an
audition video on the Barclays Live website, with the winner in
with a chance of receiving a £1,000 ($1,500) cheque and two VIP
tickets to see Brendan Cole’s official dance tour.
Although an RBI survey
showed Barclays closed the highest number of branches among the top
UK lenders since 2000 (see UK
branches down 20% in past 10 years) the bank has fought back with an
overhaul of its entire branch network.
So far, 450 of its 1,700 branches
have been revamped for a “completely and utterly different”
appearance, a spokesperson for the bank said.
