Indian private sector lender Axis Bank has launched its expanded International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) Banking Unit at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, in the Indian state of Gujarat.

This move is aimed at bolstering the bank’s international presence and catering to a global clientele. The new premises, now encompassing nearly 8,000ft2, marks a considerable increase from the previous 2,700ft2 facility.

The expanded unit is equipped with a comprehensive suite of services tailored for international customers.

It includes a digital fixed deposit proposition for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), online banking solutions for both non-residential retail and corporate clients, and dedicated relationship managers to offer personalised support.

These offerings are designed to facilitate smooth cross-border banking experiences for NRI clients.

Since its inception at GIFT City in 2017, Axis Bank has focused on asset and treasury products for corporate customers.

The bank’s presence has since grown, now providing a full spectrum of global banking services.

The expansion underscores the bank’s evolution in areas such as the capital market, trade, custody, corporate, retail, and transaction banking.

Axis Bank Wholesale Banking Products president and head Vivek Gupta said: “The growth of our GIFT City underscores Axis Bank’s dedication to building a robust international banking franchise.

“This larger facility reaffirms our position at the forefront of India’s international financial services landscape. We remain committed to supporting GIFT CITY’s emergence as a global financial powerhouse and are proud to contribute to its evolution.”

Axis Bank is said to be the first private sector bank to accumulate over $1bn in customer deposits at its IFSC Banking Unit in GIFT City as of 31 October 2024.
