Beyond Bank Australia, one of the country’s largest customer-owned banks, has collaborated with Cognizant to transform the digital banking experience.

The engagement with Cognizant is expected to enhance Beyond Bank’s End User Compute (EUC) teams, automate patching processes, enable self-service capabilities, and extend the value of existing licences.

These initiatives are designed to create a more resilient and secure environment for the bank’s operations.

Cognizant Australia country manager Rob Marchiori noted: “Cognizant is committed to supporting Beyond Bank’s mission to provide enhanced services to their customers. By enhancing their digital capabilities, we will help them provide better services to their customers and support paving the way for a resilient banking model that addresses current and future market demands.”

Furthermore, the collaboration will upgrade the bank’s IT infrastructure, establish a Security Operations Centre (SOC), and strengthen vendor assurance frameworks. These steps are intended to help Beyond Bank align with the standards set by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA).

A significant aspect of Beyond Bank’s digital transformation is the focus on several key workstreams. These include cloud and API architecture modernisation and an enterprise-wide migration to Windows 11.

The integrations are planned to be flexible, scalable, and secure, enabling the bank to introduce new products swiftly and prepare for future growth.

Cognizant will also assist Beyond Bank in developing a comprehensive data and information management strategy.

Utilising artificial intelligence, the strategy will optimise structured data from core banking systems and organise unstructured data for insights, enabling more tailored services for customers.

The partnership aims to introduce new products and services that cater to a younger demographic, while also improving the service experience for all customers.

With this move, the bank looks to improve operational resilience and streamline processes.

Referring to Cognizant, Beyond Bank Australia Chief Information Officer Stevie-Ann Dovico stated: “Their expertise allows us to modernise our IT infrastructure and enhance security, aligning with our values as a customer-owned bank.”
