Cash is no longer king – Barclays
According to research commissioned by Barclays and Barclaycard, one in eight consumers do not carry cash and almost 50% believe coins and notes will become obsolete Barclays also found that 57% of respondents refuse to carry one or two penny coins whereas 50% get rid of change by giving them to charity or throwing them in the bin The report also showed that a further 32% prefer to pay by card as it saves them worrying about cash with 17% noting that cards allow them to keep track of their spending
Wincor Nixdorf: Cash remains preferred method of payment
According to a recent report commissioned by self-service vendor, Wincor Nixdorf, 68% of the UK population continue to use cash as their preferred form of payment. In the survey, 58% of respondents said that they use a card to pay for large transactions, while 32% felt more in control of their money when they pay by cash Wincor Nixdorfs director of marketing, Ed Brindley, said that consumers want a choice of payment methods and for men, cash is the preferred option
State Bank of India to open another 800 branches
Indias largest lender, State Bank of India, (SBI), is to increase its domestic branch network by opening 800 branches by March 2012 SBIs distribution network totalled 13,542 branches and 20,084 ATMs at the end of the last financial year in March 2011.
