HSBC Brunei: new Premier banking incentives on MasterCard
The new campaign, to go live at the end of July, will include the banks credit card holders in a monthly luck draw when they pay for transactions with their HSBC Premier MasterCard credit card.
ADIB pushes into affluent banking with Gold Priority branches
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) is pushing into affluent banking services with the launch of a banking service and branches specifically for its affluent retail banking customers. The UAE-based lender has introduced a Gold Priority Banking for affluent customers, a key service in its strategic retail banking business plan in 2011. ADIBs CEO Tirad Mahmoud said:Through Gold Priority Banking, our customers and their family members can enjoy a bouquet of exclusive services, benefits and solutions that match their status.
BNP Paribas offers baby loan with 0% interest
BNP Paribas is re-aligning its banking products as part of its updated retail banking strategy to be more customer-centric. The new approach includes the launch of a birth loan for parents-to-be or those with children under the age of 1. The baby loan will enable eligible families to borrow 1,000 for up to a year with zero interest rate.
Ajman Bank launches women-only service in UAE
It may only have seven branches across the UAE, but Sharia-compliant Ajman Bank has got its eyes set on growth with tailor-made products: The bank has thus commenced offering banking services particularly for women, in a country where gender segregation is part of everyday life and women-only services, such as taxis for females, are common. The Mahra Ladies Banking service will initially be available at selected areas of the banks headquarters, but Ajman Bank intends to distribute it nationwide at an as of yet unspecified time.
UK Independent Commission on Banking: proposals in September
The Independent Commission on Banking (ICB), the UK-based and government appointed body to oversee banks, is going to publish the first of its final recommendations for UK banking reforms in September The ICB will reveal its proposals regarding possible changes in the banking system on 12 September to the government, who will then decide whether to go through with the proposals or adopt them in part

France’s and Europe’s largest bank by branch network, Credit Agricole, has finally unveiled its long-awaited business strategy and the targets for its retail banking business under its Commitment 2014 programme are ambitious: Jean-Paul Chifflet, Credit Agricoles CEO, outlined the bank’s chief targets as a re-modelling of the banking structure into a universal one and thus creating synergies between business lines, as well as investments in IT and multichannels.
Crédit Agricole launches kwixo payments service
Credit Agricole has today unveiled a mobile payments service in Paris It is called kwixo and will enable person-to-person (P2P), business-to-business (B2B) and person-to-business (P2B) payments via mobile handsets and the internet. Customers will have no need to hold a credit card to use the service.
