Management Occupations drive corporate governance-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 17%, emerged as the top corporate governance-related job roles within the banking and payments industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 10% quarter-on-quarter. Business and Financial Operations Occupations came in second with a share of 15% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 11% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent corporate governance roles include Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 14% share in Q2 2024, Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 10% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in banking and payments industry accounted for 25% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Toronto-Dominion Bank, Bank of Montreal, Citigroup, Henderson Smaller Companies Investment Trust, and Standard Chartered. Together they accounted for a combined share of 25% of all corporate governance-related new jobs in the banking and payments industry.

Toronto-Dominion Bank posted 2,206 corporate governance-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Bank of Montreal 1,964 jobs, Citigroup 976 jobs, Henderson Smaller Companies Investment Trust 964 jobs, and Standard Chartered 906 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 46.74% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024

The largest share of corporate governance-related new job postings in the banking and payments industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 46.74% followed by India (12.20%) and Canada (11.98%). The share represented by the US was 0 percentage points lower than the 47.09% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
