North America extended its dominance for machine learning hiring among retail banking industry companies in the three months ending May.
The number of roles in North America made up 55.7% of total machine learning jobs – up from 53.7% in the same quarter last year.
That was followed by Europe, which saw a 0.9 year-on-year percentage point change in machine learning roles.
The figures are compiled by GlobalData, who track the number of new job postings from key companies in various sectors over time. Using textual analysis, these job advertisements are then classified thematically.

The fastest growing country was Canada, which saw 3.3% of all machine learning job adverts in the three months ending May 2021, increasing to 5.2% in the three months ending May this year.
That was followed by the UK (up 0.6 percentage points), India (0.3), and Poland (0.2).
The top country for machine learning roles in the retail banking industry is the United States which saw 50.5% of all roles advertised in the three months ending May.
Which cities and locations are the biggest hubs for machine learning workers in the retail banking industry?
Some 6.5% of all retail banking industry machine learning roles were advertised in Bengaluru (India) in the three months ending May.
That was followed by Pune (India) with 4.7%, New York City (US) with 4.6%, and Toronto (Canada) with 3.6%.
