Meghna Mukerjee reports
Germany-headquartered technology vendor Software AG unveiled major updates to its ARIS and webMethods product suites, at its ProcessWorld 2012 event held in Orlando, Florida, from 15 to 17 October.
Software AG’s ARIS product suite now combines cloud, mobile, social and analytic technologies with ARIS 9.0 and focuses on accelerating process improvement by allowing a broader set of corporate skills and experiences to contribute to process design and testing.
Through ARIS 9.0’s advanced analytic capabilities, Software AG aims to visually present individually selected business information and KPIs, which can be used interactively on any mobile device. According to the software vendor, process improvement will also be accelerated through improved operational cross-product analytics and intelligence.

By GlobalDataARIS Connect has been developed with the aim of providing "rapid access to a larger ARIS user community within the enterprise, and support deployment in public, private and hybrid clouds".
Software AG CEO, Karl-Heinz Streibich, says ARIS 9.0 brings "even more innovations" to keep businesses agile.
"For the first time, ARIS customers will be able to collaborate, utilising the cloud, mobile devices and social media to improve processes faster."
Streibich adds, "Today our industry is at an inflection point thanks to the convergence of driving forces, which the Gartner Group calls the four forces of change: social, mobile, the cloud, and information – based on Big Data analysis. Together these forces are transforming the way we process data, collaborate, manage our infrastructures, engage with customers and employees, and grow our businesses."
According to Software AG, ARIS Connect will enable enterprises to "unlock the power of social collaboration for business and IT improvement" and also introduce a new HTML5 based client technology providing access through smart phones and tablets. ARIS Connect can be adapted to project-specific requirements as well.
Updates unveiled on the webMethods product suite at ProcessWorld US extend its independent integration layer webMethods 9.0 on uniting the management of Big Data from any source with automated business processes and applications deployed in the cloud, on mobile devices or in-house.
webMethods 9.0 is integrated with Software AG’s in-memory technology subsidiary for enterprise Big Data, Terracotta.
With the combination of in-memory, cloud, mobile and social technologies, webMethods 9.0 aims to allow customers to have micro-second access to huge amounts of data, distributing the relevant information to any device and providing the "required level of business responsiveness to successfully react to new business opportunities".
The efficient management of Big Data offers "unprecedented business opportunities to enterprises that react fast enough to take advantage of them" says Streibich, adding that webMethods 9.0 will enable enterprises to "gain a real competitive advantage".
Delivering on Software AG’s cloud strategy – that allows the mix and match of on-premise and cloud applications – webMethods CloudStreams is a new product launched with the aim of allowing customers to efficiently integrate SaaS applications with other on-premise and other SaaS applications, and govern the integration.
Another new product, webMethods Command Central, enables customers to provision and control functionality to streamline deployment options in hybrid cloud environments. It also provides operational visibility and control across the entire webMethods landscape.
According to Software AG, customers will be able to configure environments using a single tool in webMethods Command Central and "gain the visibility needed to compare configurations, version levels and fix levels across the webMethods landscape".
The new webMethods Mobile Suite aims to provide a high level of security for interactive mobile applications that organisations "can build and distribute" quickly.
webMethods Pulse provides real-time information and event streams to stakeholders enabling collaborative actions and responses, independent of location or preferred device. Additionally, webMethods Active Transfer aims to simplify the process of setting up and managing file transfers with trading partners, providing a centralised solution that handles all file transfers that is "fast, reliable and scalable", regardless of size and file volume.
Streibich says, "Classic companies and digital companies both face game-changing threats from competitors and other economic forces. What they have in common is they must be agile to react to unforeseen circumstances, but the digital companies can react faster, much faster by leveraging the flexibility offered by the digital world."
Software AG will continue to focus its efforts to grow in key markets, with the US being its dominant market for at least the next 10 years and "maybe forever, and not China, India or any other region in the world", adds Streibich.
"As part of our expansion in North America, we continue to increase our presence in the West Coast."
An early customer access program for ARIS 9.0 and webMethods 9.0 is scheduled for late Q4 2012, and general availability will start in Q1 2013.
