December 2021 has seen a decrease of 7.49% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 20.58% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering a decrease of 0.6% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 69.11% in December 2021, an 18.07% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 13.53% in December 2021, marking a 15.3% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 7.19% in December 2021, a 20.57% drop from November 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 23.2% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s banking and payments industry during December 2021 over previous month.
Citigroup posted 946 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a decline of 21.56% over the previous month, followed by JPMorgan Chase with 689 jobs and a 42.65% growth. Barclays with 559 IT jobs and Macquarie Group with 400 jobs, recorded a 48.67% rise and a 257.14% rise, respectively, while Fiserv recorded a 76.83% increase with 290 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s banking and payments industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with a 71.38% share in December 2021, a 14.05% decrease over November 2021. Australia featured next with a 9.57% share, down 19.51% over the previous month. Singapore recorded a 6.4% share, a drop of 35.24% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.22%, down by 4.6% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 32.6% share, registered a decline of 35.17% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 5.41% share, down 21.16% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.78%, recording a month-on-month decline of 12.08%.
