December 2021 has seen a decrease of 9.71% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 14.73% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering a decrease of 0.55% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 68.69% in December 2021, a 16.61% rise over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 10.76% in December 2021, marking a 52.99% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 10.76% in December 2021, a 24.66% drop from November 2021.

Top five banking and payments companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 16.14% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s banking and payments industry during December 2021 over previous month.
Banco de Credito e Inversiones posted 68 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a decline of 32% over the previous month, followed by Citigroup with 67 jobs and a 21.18% drop. Fiserv with 55 IT jobs and Ebanx with 38 jobs, recorded a 1275% rise and a flat growth, respectively, while Banco Santander recorded a 70.87% decline with 37 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s banking and payments industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with a 36.4% share in December 2021, a 26.19% decrease over November 2021. Peru featured next with a 16.63% share, up 84.78% over the previous month. Chile recorded a 16.05% share, a drop of 32.23% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.69%, down by 11.36% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 13.89% share, registered a decline of 19.32% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Senior job ads with 10.57% share, up 107.69% over November 2021, while Entry Level postings accounted for 6.85%, recording a month-on-month decline of 14.63%.
