Private-sector Indian
lender, Axis Bank, is to open 100 branches in rural, under-banked
areas by the end of the year.
The initiative is part
of Axis Bank’s rural banking strategy to expand its branch network
in semi-urban and rural areas.
It is the bank’s fourth
such initiative this year.
“We will be launching
100 branches across India under the rural banking strategy in
addition to our normal network expansion plans by the end of this
financial year,” said Shriniwas Dandekar, Axis Bank senior vice
president.
“It is part of our
strategy of being a total solutions bank.”
