Bank of America (BofA) has completed
the installation of voice-enabled technology across its entire ATM
network offering access to visually impaired customers, America’s
largest bank by deposits has announced.
The so-called ‘talking ATMs’ provide
audible instructions in English or Spanish to customers who cannot
view information on an ATM screen.
The instructions are delivered via
headset to protect the security of users.
The changes will affect BofA’s
18,000-strong ATM network, the largest network of bank-owned ATMs
in the US.
“This is just one of many services
we continue to offer to all of our visually impaired customers,”
said BofA’s Rob Aulebach, ATM channel management executive.
“We are proud to offer innovative
solutions at our ATMs so all of our customers have the control and
choice to manage their everyday finances effectively.”
