Omani lender Bank Sohar has chosen IBM Cloud and mobile to improve its IT infrastructure and client service capabilities.
The selection of IBM MobileFirst and IBM Cloud was the culmination of an IT overhaul started by the bank, which focused on a flexible development platform for developing and managing mobile applications.
Bank Sohar deputy general manager of IT and alternate channels Mujahid Said Al Zadjali said: “The IBM solution will streamline the Bank's IT infrastructure and significantly improve efficiency and time-to-market when launching new products, particularly for mobile-applications. This will also result in the reduction of time and effort to integrate new core banking applications."
The MobileFirst Platform will allow the bank to manage mutiple versions of its apps in one location.
It will also allows the bank to gain insights into app usage and performance, troubleshoot problems, update and secure them from device to server, the technology vendor said.
IBM Middle East and Pakistan general manager Amr Refaat said: "By choosing this platform on IBM Cloud, Bank Sohar was able to streamline its IT environment and gain flexibility in using its infrastructure to become an engine of innovation.
