Customers in the UK have been affected by a major Barclays outage. Many are unable to access their online banking accounts.

Barclays customers were met with a message in the morning saying that Barclays online banking was unavailable. Mobile banking was also affected but, according to the Barclays website, is now up and running.

Online banking and telephone banking is still down. Those wanting to use telephone banking must now go through an automated service.

However, customers can make payments and check their balance through mobile banking.

The social media team is currently replying with the following: “We’ve spotted a technical glitch and we’re working to sort things out ASAP. It is our top priority however I don’t have a time-scale on when things will be fixed, apologies.”

Certainly, it is bad timing for a Barclays outage. It recently announced the launch of its open banking features.

In addition, UK customers are fed up of banking outages following the ongoing saga with TSB’s constant issues.
