Barclays Bank of Kenya, part of Barclays Africa, is set to shutter seven branches in the country in a bid to cut costs.
The downsizing exercise will start from October 2017. Branches located in Moi Avenue, Haile Salassie Branch, Waiyaki Way branch, Kawangware, Rahimtulla, Nakumatt Meru branch and Wundanyi will be affected by the move.
The move will not lead to redundancies, the bank said, with employees of the shuttered branches to be redeployed based on available opportunities and skills.
Barclays Bank of Kenya managing director Jeremy Awori said: “This is a consolidation move aimed at aligning our business to the current environment. No staff will be sacked.”
