Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) has partnered with Wincor Nixdorf to pilot a drive-through self-service system that offers video teller capabilities.
The system, being trialled under subsidiary BBVA Compass in Houston, Texas, lets customers consult bank staff via a live video link if they have any questions.
BBVA said the system will be piloted in other locations across the US in the coming months.
The bank is also rolling out ATMs with a range of new functions across Spain and had installed around 100 by the end of 2013, with a view to ultimately standardising the new ATMs.
New features include a large touchscreen and simpler user interface, the ability to use an electronic identity card and an online password to access an account, the ability to complete transactions with a contactless card and account statements printed in A4 format.
Javier Lopez Bartolomé, Wincor Nixdorf’s senior VP for Americas and Iberia, said: "With the introduction of these new solutions, BBVA is once again ideally implementing its corporate philosophy, which relies on the three pillars of leadership, innovation, and performance by people for people."
