Digital-only challenger lender BNI Europa has launched a new consumer credit platform known as Puzzle for the Portuguese market.
“Puzzle” aims to introduce the Portuguese market the first totally digital and real time credit approval process with a simple, and nonbureaucratic concession,” the bank said in a statement.
The new platform will provide up to €3,000 in credit and various payment maturities.
The platform leverages machine learning algorithms for the credit decision process, which according to the bank will allow better identification of a customer’s payment capacity.
The bank also said that Puzzle will facilitate coverage of certain market segments including freelance professionals, which were previously not covered by financial services firms.
The bank expects Puzzle to “give rise to a credit volume of 300 million euros within three years in the Portuguese market” and plans to expand the reach of the platform to other European countries at a later stage.
