Capital One has launched the latest version of its mobile banking app in the US, giving customers the option to draw a pattern to login instead of using a password.

The feature, already a popular way of unlocking smartphones, has so far failed to make the transition to mobile banking apps.

The app uses a system called SureSwipe which users have to manually turn on in the apps settings.

The app update coincides with the release of a mobile banking promotional video, featuring a professional stuntman logging on to the app and paying bills while running in Atlanta’s Great Bull Run.

The latest version of the app is currently only available on iPhone but will roll out to Android in "early 2014".
