China Construction Bank (CCB) has, reportedly, launched its first overseas ATM in Melbourne, Australia, as part of its plan to strengthen retail banking business in the country.
CCB, which operates 17 bank offices or subsidiaries in 15 nations and regions, said that installation of the new ATM in Melbourne will enable to boost its day-to-day retail banking services.
China Construction Bank board chairman Wang Hongzhang was quoted by the China Daily as saying that Australia’s marketing and investing environment for foreign financial businesses is ideal.
"Australia has always been a top priority in the CCB’s overseas expansion since the country enjoys a very strong economy in the Asia-Pacific region and is an international financial," Wang added.
He further said that ATM is still a new idea for CCB’s global operation and offices, and the lender would like to use this new channel to access the local market.
CCB became the first Chinese lender that was granted permission to operate in Australia after the global financial crisis of 2008, and launched its Sydney Branch in 2010 and Melbourne branch in 2012, respectively.
