Malaysian bank CIMB Group has revealed plans to invest MYR75m ($18.82m) in the CIMB 3D Academy over the next three years to equip its workforce with latest digital knowledge.

Based on idea of digital, data and disruption, the academy will help the company to embrace the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

Through this new initiative, the group plans to equip its 36,000 employees with digital knowledge and skills appropriate to their jobs, by end of next year.

CIMB Group group CEO Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Aziz said: “In tandem with the digitisation of our core with a data-first principle, the CIMB 3D Academy is a crucial component to help us develop a workforce with the right skillset to help achieve our digital ambitions.

“Through the Academy, our staff will be trained for agility, adaptability, creativity and an open mind to, among others, think like an entrepreneur and disrupt conventional thinking, in order to identify and reap opportunities to improve the Group’s value proposition for our 13 million customers and stakeholders across ASEAN.”

The academy will be responsible for providing digital training using the 3D modules and conducted primarily through a digital and interactive platform to its employees to improve the group’s business.

Additionally, a core group of roles will be developed to include emerging ones such as scrum product owner, agile coach, agile leader, scrum master, and tech geek.

Other IT position include data analysts, data scientist, design thinker, data engineer, UI/UX designer, and digital marketer.
