There has been a 25% increase in new mobile banking customers for Turkish lender Garanti, following the launch of its personal finance app.
The new app is available across iPad, iPhone and Andriod platforms and aims to help people monitor their accounts history, transfer funds, pay third parties and learn about financial deals.
The bank has also raised its mobile financial services market share to 36% in terms of the number of customers and 45% in terms of financial transactions.
The new app, created by design consultancy firm Fjord, aims to play a key role in Garanti’s goal to see Turkey transition to a "cashless utopia" by 2023.
Deniz Güven, senior vice president of delivery channels at Garanti, said: "We knew that existing users would be very careful in their judgment of the new services, and Fjord rose to the challenge exceptionally well."
Iñaki Amate, managing director of Fjord Istanbul, added, "Mobile technology is transforming the Turkish market and by employing a mobile-first approach that puts the user at the heart of design, we have been able to help Garanti unlock the true potential of mobile banking.
