Handelsbanken Finland has awarded a NOK650m ($75m) contract to software developer EVRY to upgrade its digital infrastructure.

Under the eight-year deal, EVRY will provide a full portfolio of banking software solutions to Handelsbanken’s Finnish unit. It will include core banking and payment software solutions.

The scope of the contract also includes the delivery of internet banking for personal and corporate customers, loan management and back office solutions for Handelsbankens’s employees and selected card services.

EVRY will deliver the products as Software as a Service (SaaS) solution based on its software platform to enable end-to-end banking services.

Handelsbanken Finland CEO Nina Arkilahti said: “EVRY’s solution will give us a modern and configurable banking platform with extensive product development capabilities.

“Modernising our core banking system in this way will enable us to develop more efficient processes and thereby to provide better customer service.”

The Finnish bank has the option to extend the contract by two years.

EVRY executive vice-president of financial services Wiljar Nesse said: “We will provide Handelsbanken with customer-centric core banking and payment solutions that will enable it to respond more quickly to changes and to be more agile in taking new value-adding services to market.”

Handelsbanken Finland, part of Sweden’s Handelsbanken Group, operates more than 40 branches in the country and employs more than 600 people.
