HSBC continues to expand in Asia and has
opened two branches in southern Vietnam.
HSBC now has 17 branches in the
country.
The bank said that one of the branches, based
in the city of Dong Nai, was the first branch in the city to be
operated completely by a foreign lender.
HSBC said that the branch will offer
business products and services as well as cater for retail banking
customers with personal financial services.
Another branch, based in Phan Dang Luu, will
run as HSBC-HCM City Branch.
Earlier in January, HSBC announced that it
would target a growth in its retail banking business in
Thailand following the local government’s easing of its
restrictive banking rules.
