Lloyds Banking Group has reportedly decided to shutter 15 more branches, a week after it announced to cut 380 jobs.

A company spokesperson told Reuters that the bank will close 15 branches between January and March 2019.

The branches to be closed are located in the Wales & West, Midlands & East, North and Central & South regions.

The spokesperson was quoted by the news agency as saying: “All branches announced for closure will have a Post Office less than half-a-mile away, so customers can still access their banking locally.”

Financial services union Accord announced that the latest Lloyds branch closures will affect up to 23 jobs.

However, it added that the loss of jobs can be managed without compulsory redundancy as it happened during previous branch closures.

Last week, Lloyds axed 350 jobs as a part of the reorganisation  of its various business divisions. The reorganisation process is also expected to create 435 new jobs primarily in the transformation division.

Most of the British lenders are reducing their brick-and-mortar presence across the country to reduce operational costs and emphasise on digital offerings.

Recently, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) revealed plans to close 54 branches in England and Wales, which will impact around 258 jobs. All these RBS branches will shut their doors in January 2019.
