Morgan Stanley and Raymond James Financial were the top mergers and acquisitions (M&A) financial advisers in the financial services sector during the first half (H1) of 2024 by value and volume, respectively, according to the latest financial advisers league table by GlobalData, publishers of RBI.
An analysis of GlobalData’s Deals Database has revealed that Morgan Stanley achieved its leading position in terms of value by advising on $53.2bn worth of deals.
Meanwhile, Raymond James Financial led in terms of volume by advising on a total of 16 deals
Aurojyoti Bose, Lead Analyst at GlobalData, commented: “Almost all the top 10 advisers by value and volume registered year-on-year (YoY) improvements by respective metrics in H1 2024.
“Morgan Stanley witnessed around five-fold jump in the total value of deals advised by it during H1 2024 compared to H1 2024, whereas the deal volume doubled for Raymond James Financial. Consequently, Morgan Stanley’s ranking by value improved from fifth position in H1 2023 to the top spot in H1 2024. Meanwhile, Raymond James Financial went ahead from occupying the 12th position by volume in H1 2023 to lead the chart by this metric in H1 2024.”
TD Securities occupied the second position in terms of value, by advising on $37.3bn worth of deals, followed by PJT Partners with $36.1bn, Centerview Partners with $35.3bn, and JP Morgan with $32.5bn.
Meanwhile, JP Morgan occupied the second position in terms of volume with 15 deals, followed by Goldman Sachs with 15 deals, Piper Sandler with 15 deals, and Evercore with 14 deals.
