NatWest Rooster Money, the UK pocket money app, is launching a limited-edition Team GB card design to encourage children to get moving on their financial goals in the spirit of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

The news follows research from kids and family insight consultancy Beano Brain, commissioned by NatWest Rooster Money, which found that nearly half of parents see distinctive card designs as a means of getting their kids more open to the world of banking.

Sandi Royden, Head of Youth and Family Banking at NatWest, commented: “Just like Team GB’s athletes, we all need to start somewhere in achieving our goals, building our skills and confidence one step at a time – and we hope our Team GB partnership will encourage children across the country to get going with their goals and have a head start with money.”

The only Team-GB-themed card on the market, this new card design will be free for new and existing NatWest Rooster Money customers

Will Carmichael, CEO of NatWest Rooster Money, said: “Our new Team GB cards are all about championing action takers and motivating children to get going on their financial goals. The Olympic Games are filled with athletes who show nothing but dedication, determination and consistency, so what better place to look for role models to inspire young people to grab their financial capability with both hands and start realising their potential?”

Tim Ellerton, Commercial Director at Team GB, added: “We know how powerful an inspiration Team GB athletes can be to young people, so we’re pleased to be working with NatWest on this initiative to help inspire children to learn about managing their money, particularly as our Mini Mascots will be among the first to get their hands on one of the new cards!”

The launch comes as part of NatWest Group’s commitment as the Official Banking Partner of Team GB for Olympic Games Paris 2024, and is accompanied by a number of initiatives taking place across the summer.
