NatWest has joined the selfie revolution allowing customers to open an account using a photo for verification.
Through simplifying the ID verification process, NatWest will enable customers to save time on the authentication process
The added convenience and speed of ‘selfie banking’ will improve the overall customer experience. Furthermore, since there will no longer be a need to remember long passwords and account details.
Furthermore, all across the UK, consumers are using bank branches far less frequently than they used to. By enabling a quick digital solution, NatWest is making sure that customers have a secure solution to open an account. Instead of going into a branch, customers can do this from the comfort of their home.
NatWest also joins other high street banks such as HSBC and Lloyds who enabled this capability in 2016.

Using AI and real-time biometric checks, NatWest will confirm that a customers’ selfie matches the image in their photographic ID.
