The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the
United Arab Emirates’ second-largest bank by assets, has
re-launched its mobile phone application making the one-touch
banking available for Android, BlackBerry, iPhone and all smart
phone platforms.

NBAD launched its mobile banking app in 2011
and the new mobile app with the one-touch banking aims to offer
NBAD customers full control over their account allowing them to
transfer funds including remittance transactions, pay utility
bills, make donations, and view all their accounts using their
phone device.

According to NBAD, it was “imperative to
enhance NBAD mobile apps” as iPhone penetration rises in UAE.

NBAD’s revamped mobile app allows consumers to
send money to themselves, which allows withdrawal of cash at an ATM
without a card but by using a PIN that is sent to the accountholder
by SMS.

Ahmed Al Naqbi, the head of direct banking and
e-development at NBAD said:

“The new NBAD mobile app extends our superior
services to iPhone users and since NBAD is the first to allow
international remittances, it is unique in the market,” said.

The mobile app service also allows remittances
through NBAD’s partner MoneyGram that allows consumers to remit
internationally and receivers can cash out the money from any of
the MoneyGram agents located in 190 countries within 10
minutes.

In June 2010,
NBAD became the first bank in the Middle East to offer
international remittances
from customers’ mobile phones.
