Hungary-based OTP Bank is going to roll out
contactless cards in the country’s fifth biggest city, Pecs.
OTP Bank has partnered with Oberthur to roll
out contactless city cards in Pecs.
The contactless city card will be issued by
MasterCard, work as a prepaid card and deploy the card issuer’s
PayPass technology.
The card can be used at about 150 million
merchants globally who accept MasterCard.
OTP began rolling out MasterCard-supported
contactless card in Hungary in 2009.
“The deployment of this solution by OTP shows
the momentum of contactless payment in the central European
region”, said Eric Duforest, managing director Europe, card systems
division at Oberthur Technologies.
