The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) and Israel’s BGN Technologies, the technology transfer company of Ben-Gurion University (BGU) in Israel, have entered into a partnership to explore cyber security technologies.
Under the collaboration, RBC has agreed to invest $2m into research at BGU’s Cyber-Security Research Center to support the development of adversarial artificial intelligence (AI).
This research collaboration intends to develop new methods to assess and fortify the resilience of current AI and machine learning techniques.
This research will be led by Ben-Gurion University Cyber Security Research Center Department of Software and Information Systems Engineering experts Yuval Elovici and Dr Asaf Shabtai.
RBC EVP of technology & operations Martin Wildberger said: “In today’s incredibly complex world, we need advanced technology like AI and machine learning to continue developing leading-edge cyber security.
“This partnership will help support our cyber defense by working with prominent experts in the field, such as the researchers at Ben-Gurion University.”
BGN Technologies High-tech Business Development official Danny Shtaier said: “This partnership provides our researchers with the opportunity to further apply their leadership in cyber security research to the banking industry, where security is crucial for daily operations and the safety of customers.”
