Scotiabank’s direct banking subsidiary, Tangerine, is launching Digital Onboarding, an improved signup experience that provides an easier, faster and secure way for clients to begin banking with Tangerine.

This innovation enables customers to sign-up online, without the need for cheques or paperwork. To apply for an account, clients are asked to input their required personal information, which is verified within minutes, and provide a digital e-signature.

Once the account is set up, clients can take advantage of Tangerine’s “anytime, anywhere” banking services. Tangerine offers flexible and accessible banking through innovative products as well as award winning client service.

“At Tangerine we’re consistently focused on delivering new innovations that make life easier for our clients and this starts from the moment you join the bank,” commented Peter Aceto, the president and CEO at Tangerine. “Whether it’s signing up for our no-fee daily chequing account, choosing an investment or paying a credit card bill, our everyday banking experience is designed with our clients in mind so they can focus on making smart decisions with their hard-earned money.”

This move is one of Tangerine’s many innovations designed to improve the clients’ experience. Launched as ING DIRECT Canada in 1997, Tangerine now operates independently as a wholly-owned subsidiary, having been acquired by Scotiabank in 2012.

With nearly 2 million Clients, over 1000 employees and close to C$38bn in total assets, Tangerine’s presence extends beyond their website and mobile banking app to café locations, pop-up locations, kiosks and 24/7 contact centres.
