Intelligent Identity Security (IIS) company Sontiq has bought data breach intelligence fintech Breach Clarity for an undisclosed amount.

The takeover will offer Sontiq’s offerings the proprietary capability, BreachIQ that is powered by AI-based algorithm developed by Breach Clarity co-founder Jim Van Dyke. These offerings include IdentityForce, Cyberscout, and EZShield, which are built on the IIS Platform.

Currently, BreachIQ is available for select Sontiq clients with a broader roll-out expected in the second quarter of this year.

Sontiq president and CEO Brian Longe said: “It is becoming clear that consumers and the organisations that serve them desperately need clearer, more detailed information about the impact of data breaches to better safeguard their identities.”

Sontiq will retain Breach Clarity’s team as part of the deal. Dyke will become SVP, Digital Financial Wellness at Sontiq.

Breach Clarity co-founder Al Pascual will also move to Sontiq in the role of SVP, Data Breach Solutions.

BreachIQ assesses over 1,300 data points to curate a breach score depending on the severity and risks of a publicly reported data breach.

Dyke noted: “With the integration of our artificial intelligence algorithm and risk expertise, Sontiq will provide clarity to millions of consumers around their individualised risk profile and the protective actions steps likely to have the greatest impact.

“In combination with personalised advice and recovery with Sontiq’s white-glove resolution experts, consumers have never been in better hands.”

Sontiq provides users an AI-powered personalised risk score with actionable next-steps on the basis of their unique data breach history.

Earlier this month, the venture capital arm of Dutch lender ING agreed to invest an additional $3m in fintech start-up Flowcast.
