The German Savings Bank
Association, (DSGV), the umbrella organisation of the Sparkassen
Group, has launched a free budget planner for smartphone
users.
The S-Budgetplaner for
smartphones – which works on Apple’siPhone as well as the rival
Android and Blackberry platforms – is an extension of a web-based
budget planner which has been available since 2008.
The S-Budgetplaner is
available to both Sparkassen and non-Sparkassen customers and
enables all users to manage their budgets on the go.
Users will require to
register for the Web-Budgetplaner first and can then access their
budget book via their smartphone.
The user has to
categorise their monthly income and, if known, their expenditure,
such as rent/mortgage and other monthly occurring bills.
A DSGV report conducted
for the 50th anniversary of Sparkasse’s budget book
service found that one-in-eight Germans have used a
budgeter.

that the DSGV wants to convince more people to use a
planner.
The S-Budgetplaner is
part of DSGV’s social responsibility programme.
Netzel said that DSGV’s
S-Budgetplanner and DSGV’s other, similar smartphone applications,
can help empower Germany citizens.
DSGV currently offers
six other smartphone applications, including a real estate app as
well as the regular mobile banking app.
The bank said that since
2009, Sparkasse’s smartphone applications have been downloaded
750,000 times.
The Web-Budgetplaner has
attracted 33,000 users since its launch in July 2008.
