Swedish lender Swedbank has secured approval from the Lithuanian Competition Council to acquire Danske Bank’s retail banking operations in Lithuania.

The deal to offload Danske Bank’s retail banking businesses in Lithuania and Latvia to Swedbank was announced in September 2015.
In November 2015, Swedbank received the approval from the Competition Council to acquire Danske Bank’s Latvia retail banking arm.
Danske Bank’s services would be transferred to Swedbank between 3 June and 6 June.
Swedbank Latvia head M?ris Man?inskis said: "We are pleased to welcome our new customers and have the infrastructure, resources and wide range of modern financial solutions to guarantee high quality banking services."
