By GlobalDataKalliopi Chioti, director of sustainability and social responsibility, Temenos, said: “We recognise the importance of taking action on our material environmental impacts and support a precautionary approach to these impacts on our own initiative. We are thrilled that our biggest-ever TKO can be a sustainable, carbon neutral event. Operating responsibly is integral to Temenos’ culture and a key pillar of our business.”
Sustainability framework
This year, Temenos aims to achieve ISO 20121 event sustainability certification for its two largest corporate events, TKO and Temenos Community Forum (TCF).
TCF will take place in Madrid on April 28-30, following a off-site and on-site audit by an external certification body.
“Our passion and commitment to reducing the negative environmental impact of our events is growing and we are always seeking new ways to ensure that our business operates according to the highest sustainability standards,” said Chioti. “At Temenos, we continue to dedicate our resources to operating responsibly, with integrity and transparency. It is fantastic to see such incredible results as we kick-start 2020.”
ISO 20121 provides the framework for identifying potential negative economic and environmental impacts of events by removing or reducing them. It also capitalises on more positive impacts through improved planing and processes.
Temenos will quantify and report the carbon footprint from all the emission sources of these events, based on ISO 14064-1. In addition, it will achieve carbon neutrality or these events in accordance with PAS 2060:2014.
CSR strategy
Through its CSR programme, Temenos aims to use its technology and resources to make a positive contribution to society.
In 2017, Temenos launched Adopt iT, providing Indian schools and Universities with better IT equipment and mentoring.
Furthermore, in 2018, the company rolled out an Environmental Management System across its offices, offsetting business travel. And, at Sibos 2019, Temenos showcased an eco-friendly stand to reduce its carbon footprint.
This move towards sustainable measures, comes as there is increasing pressure on organisations to tackle the ever-growing climate threat.
